Installing WordPress sounds technical but takes less than a coffee break. Here are both ways — the recommended one and the manual one.
Way 1: one click (recommended)
- 1. Log into cPanel (with us: the link is in your welcome email or dashboard)
- 2. Find Softaculous → WordPress → Install Now
- 3. Choose: the domain (with https://), and leave the directory EMPTY if you want the site on the main address (not in /wp/)
- 4. Site title, admin user (NOT admin!), a strong password, your email
- 5. Language — changeable later
- 6. Click Install → in 1-2 minutes you get two addresses: the site and /wp-admin
That is all. SSL is already active with us, so the site works on https immediately.
Way 2: manually (when you need control)
- Download WordPress from wordpress.org and upload it via File Manager or FTP into public_html
- In cPanel → MySQL Databases: create a database and user, grant all privileges (write them down!)
- Open your site address → the wizard asks for the database name, user and password → Install
The first 6 settings right after
- Permalinks → Settings → Permalinks → Post name (clean URLs, important for SEO)
- Untick Discourage search engines → Settings → Reading (otherwise you are invisible to Google!)
- Title and tagline → Settings → General
- Delete the demo content — the Hello world post and the sample page
- Theme — light and fast (Astra, Kadence, GeneratePress)
- Plugins — SEO, cache, security, backups (no more than needed)
The most common install mistakes
Installing into a subfolder so the site sits at yourdomain.mk/wp/ · the admin username · a weak password · a forgotten recovery email. All fixable in a minute — if you know them upfront.
