A small piece of news with big consequences: since 15 June 2026 MARnet again sends automatic email notices to owners of .mk and .мкд domains — about expiry, administrative changes and domain operations.
Why it matters: many firms used to learn their domain had expired only when the site went down. Now the notice comes in advance — but only if the address in the registry is correct.
Messages that warn of danger
- First expiry notice — the domain expires soon and needs renewal
- Warning before DNS removal — the site and mail are about to stop working
- Notice that the domain was removed from the DNS zone for non-renewal
- Final warning before deletion — the domain enters the deletion phase
- Request to confirm data — urgent, to avoid administrative blocking
- Warning before suspension due to unvalidated contact data
Messages about administrative operations
- Registration · Update · Renewal · Transfer · Deletion — a confirmation for each event, including when the domain is finally deleted and free for others to register
Why this is also a security matter
Look at the second list again. If you receive an update or transfer notice for something you did not do — that is an alarm. Someone is trying to take your domain. Such changes used to pass silently; now there is a written trace in your inbox.
What to do today (5 minutes)
- Check which address is on record. The classic: an ex-employee's email, or an address on the domain itself — which stops working exactly when the domain drops.
- Do not ignore validation messages — unvalidated contact data can lead to suspension.
- Do not rely on them alone. Your registrar's notices continue as before, and auto-renew remains the safest protection.
