You have an address on your domain and want to read it on your phone and in Outlook. Here is the whole setup — and the key decision first.
First: IMAP or POP3?
- IMAP (recommended) — mail STAYS on the server and syncs: read on the phone means read on the computer. Ideal for several devices.
- POP3 — mail is DOWNLOADED and usually deleted from the server. You see it only on that device.
If a colleague says their mail vanished — 9 times out of 10 someone set up POP3 on a second device.
The settings (for every device)
- Username: the FULL address, not just the part before the sign
- Password: the mailbox password (not your cPanel one)
- Incoming IMAP: mail.yourdomain.mk, port 993, SSL/TLS
- Outgoing SMTP: mail.yourdomain.mk, port 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS)
- Outgoing authentication: ON — reason no. 1 for I receive but cannot send
The fastest way
cPanel → Email Accounts → next to your address click Connect Devices. It shows the exact settings for your server plus automatic configuration for Outlook and Apple devices — no retyping.
If it will not connect
- Check the password (usually that is it)
- Some mobile carriers block port 25 — that is why 465/587 are used
- Antivirus or a firewall on the computer can intercept mail
- Do not write www. before mail.yourdomain.mk
A phone tip
With IMAP, sync only the last 30 days — so you do not fill the phone with years of archive. Everything stays on the server and is available via webmail.
