If you registered a .mk domain a few years ago, the procedure you remember no longer applies. MARnet — the registry for .mk and .мкд — introduced a new form and new rules in 2026.
What changed
- A new form since 1 February 2026. Following changes to the rulebook for .mk and .мкд domains, a new domain registration request form is in use. Requests submitted on the old format after that date are not accepted.
- It applies to changes too. Not only new registrations — the new form is mandatory for every change request as well.
- Built for digital signing. The new form is optimised for filling in and signing on a computer instead of printing and scanning. In March 2026 MARnet also standardised the digital request form.
What you need
- The correct registrant. The domain is held by a company or an individual — that is the owner. The biggest mistake is leaving it in the name of the contractor who built your site.
- The current form, downloaded from marnet.mk under Services → Domains. Do not reuse an old file.
- Digital signing or originals. With a qualified digital certificate the procedure is usually completed electronically; without one, documents are typically submitted in original. The exact list depends on the case and the registrar.
- For a registrant change a recent company record from the Central Registry is usually required.
Who registers it
The domain is registered through MARnet or an accredited registrar — the list is on marnet.mk. To be clear: we are not a .mk registrar and we do not run that procedure. Go to MARnet directly. We come in afterwards — hosting, DNS, email and the site itself.
Three tips
- Check the name first via MARnet WHOIS (whois.marnet.mk).
- The contact email must be yours and must work. Since June 2026 MARnet sends automatic notices about expiry and changes to the address in the registry.
- Register for multiple years.

For a local business .mk says you are here and that there is someone to talk to. Many firms take both .mk and .com.
