The most common disappointment after launch: I search my company name and I am not there. Before paying for SEO packages, run these seven — usually one of them is everything.
First: are you indexed at all?
In Google type: site:yourdomain.mk (no space). No results — Google does not see you at all. Some results — you exist, you just do not rank. Those are two entirely different problems.
If you are NOT indexed
- 1. Discourage search engines is ticked — WordPress Settings → Reading. Culprit no. 1 after launch: the builder forgot to untick it.
- 2. No Search Console — connect the site at search.google.com/search-console and submit a sitemap. That is your invitation to Google.
- 3. The site is too young — indexing takes days to weeks. Patience.
- 4. robots.txt blocks — open yourdomain.mk/robots.txt; if it says Disallow: / — that is it.
If indexed but not ranking
- 5. No content for what people search — if the words web design plus your city appear nowhere, you will hardly show up for them
- 6. Empty titles — Home, Untitled, or identical on every page; each page needs its own title with a keyword
- 7. The competition is stronger — for generic terms you fight the world; target specifically: service plus city plus intent
The realistic timeline
Indexing: days. First movement: 4-8 weeks. Stable positions: 3-6 months. Anyone promising first place in a week is lying to you.
